# 5 Eel molesters

I've always liked this picture. Match  Pit pike on the other half of that mackerel. Only ever used a really big lump of mackie 3 times, on Alresford Sandbank, on Blickling and on the Ant at Wayford Bridge. All three times I was "distracted"  and found the spool half empty and only a mauled mackie on the end.

A couple from the Road bank.

The Ski Pit, and a favourite spraternoster swim with a deep hole just past the bushes. if we did sunk pat a livio the wiggle dance on the drop-off as a pike approached was a joy to behold

Off to Alresford  now and the  Sandbank:

Shanus in action

We always put out at  least one carp rod too, often it looks like with blackeyes

Though here probably 2 carp rods and  a snided pike rod to the left

This would have been the last day of the 1984-5 season and this is Lobkin with an Alresford carp on

It snowed quite a lot that day but didn't settle so you wouldn't think so from the picture.

Of course back then then was a proper close season. So what did we do? The Alresford lot being the Alresford lot, and being led by Lord Lite used to tie eels to the back of their bikes and release them in fast flowing streams. I did a catch an eel from Frating with an amputated and healed tail, and the stream did fall out of Frating..

We Wivenhoe  gang built dams over the back instead, with the earnest hope of stocking trout or tench (?), once we went off to the river towards Whitehouse beach and got caught in a mega thunderstorm, when we got back the dams had worked a little too well for too long in the monsoon downpour, then burst and gone through several houses, including Davros Broadhurst's house.

In more sedate times we all tried eeling either in the creek or the main river Colne.

Shanus still swears that he had begun to turn this 3,000 ton coaster......

Of course we fished Adleigh for trout  as well.

On this day we had had a real downpour out in the boat, the sun came out and the ressie was alove with rising fish, al after tiny black midges, in the end resorted to strippped muddler from the bank
over the shallow flooded grass for these beauties.

From last day to first night and back on Alresford after fish and chips and three pints of Orangeboom in the Pointer

We also (sneak) nighted the Match Pit, again after a few pints in the Horse and Groom. Looks like we were back on maples then.

No, not munch fucking munch but could have been...

Now those could be the laced up boots you are dying to see Lord Lite of Thorrington but we will never know....

Well that is the first main album done and I think we are about summer 1985. Ish. I am sure the next one jumps back a bit. Toodle pip for now.
